About Me

Fiona MacGregor graduated from Edinburgh Medical School in 1986 and undertook her initial surgical training in Edinburgh and Glasgow. She then worked at the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. She also trained at the Middlesex and Hammersmith Hospitals before returning to Glasgow and taking up a consultant post at Gartnavel General Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in 1997. In 2015 she joined the adult ENT Department at the new Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow to concentrate on adult head and neck disorders and voice problems.

Her interests include general ear, nose and throat disorders such as sore throat, tonsillitis, nasal obstruction, and deafness. She also has a specialist interest in swallowing and voice problems and head and neck lumps, including cancers. She is interested in the professional singing voice and runs a specialist voice clinic. She has published and lectured widely on paediatric ENT, voice disorders and head and neck cancer.

She is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Glasgow University and a Royal Colleges Examiner for the Intercollegiate Specialty Board in Otorhinolaryngology. She is a past Chairman of the Scottish Otolaryngological Society and is a council member of ENT-UK. She is a member of the British Laryngological Society, the British Association of Endocrine and Thyroid Surgeons, the Royal Society of Medicine and The British Association of Paediatric Otolaryngologists.

She has taught on a number of national courses and has been an invited speaker at The British Academic Conference in Otolaryngology, The Royal Society of Medicine and the British Paediatric Otolaryngology Course.
